Who ARE Volcanoes?
According to reviews we sound like THE CORAL / PETE DOHERTY / THE RED HOT CHILE PEPPERS / SPARKS / ARCTIC MONKEYS / BLUR / THE STOOGES / MUDHONEY / TEST ICICLES / TALKING HEADS / DIZZY RASCAL (yikes!) / THE MUSIC / KINGS OF LEON (hopefully when they were good) / FUTUREHEADS / THE AUTOMATIC / THE ZUTONS / MAXIMO PARK / BRITISH SEA POWER / FOALS / THE STONE ROSES / THE LEMON HEADS
But maybe it is they who sound like us……..
Welcome to the new home of VOLCANOES
It’s fun being an intergalactic superband, we love it.
Silly us, we’ve been spending too long away from earth (we’re massive in gamma 5) and completely missed the point of this thing you earthlings call the web.
So this is why nobody knows who we are and why nobody comes to our gigs and why that fella from Koko’s in Camden told us that we are (and I quote) ‘not ready yet’ even though we have been performing and gigging as a band for 6 years during which time we’ve released countless EPs and demos and acquired a wealth of sweet reviews and to be fair we’re pretty nails live! (breath)
Yet alas – we have landed, we are up to date and ready to rock, we now have a web page that we can be proud of…….Welcome. There are a few things that we need to tweak but we’re on it. Our all singing, all dancing website now features a blog, a reviews page, a decent gallery, an up to date gig guide and best of all you can now listen to and download our music for FREE. It’s as if we have been born again, we’re fresh baby, fresher than a buttercup and we’re about to have some fun. Take our tunes, go on take them. Tell your friends and your friend’s friends, we’re back and we want you on our team. Our new mini album Vexihomp is due Sept 12th 2011 – the world awaits xxxx hugs xxxxx kisses xxxx second base.
When an EP begins with the line ‘In 1979 a child was born with three eyes’ you know that this is going to be something special. Sheffield Scenester
‘Badchild Farsight’ is definitely going to be one to pick up and keep in your CD player – or hit ‘repeat’ on your iTunes. It’ll stay with you for a long time.

‘Badchild Farsight’ is a finely crafted EP with a selection of indie style – genre challenging songs with a pace I fear I am getting too old and unfit to keep up with. So why have these talented young men not been signed yet? Beats me but when you listen to the second song on their latest EP, ‘Harlequin’ whose lyrics tackle the issue of the social ‘in’ crowd, you can start to understand why having just an enormous amount of musical talent isn’t enough, you’ve got to pucker up and kiss the right backsides as well. The perennial problem.

Boasting an abundance of passion, catchy melodies and instantly infectious bass lines the new release confirms that Volcanoes have their teeth clenched deep in to the UK Indie scene.
Noise Addiction
‘Sugar and Snarls’ rocks out with more style and with a stronger bass line that makes you want to jump around your living room and play air guitar.

‘Fret In The Half Moon’ is my favourite track. The bass line thumps, stops and starts and is compelling in its assertion that the listener at least taps their foot. The vocals are like several of the popular pop-punk bands of the moment, with melodic chanting and harmonious backing. The delivery is machine gun like and the chorus has a really memorable hook.
